Santuario ConsolataDear Sir,I have duly received yours of 15th instant. I am sorry you will not allow me the rebate I asked for.
Now however, before I make up my mind to make the purchase, I beg to note the wanted Tractor is intended for works in lands from 5000 to 7000 ft. above the sea level, and therefore owing the rarefaction of the air its force will be greatly diminishes (by 40%?).
Admitted this diminution and taking due account of the force consumed in the traction of the Tractor itself and the additional trailer of 3 or 4 tons I think I have ground to fear your “K” model of 28-30 B.H.P. may be insufficient to the purpose.
I ask you therefore to state how many tons of “net” weight can be loaded on the “K” Tractor (viz. part on the lorry and part on the trailer attached to it) under the following conditions: 1° In localities 5000 to 7000 ft.a.s.l.
2° On rather bad roads, with ascents of 4% or 5%.For if the “K” Tractor of 30 B.H.P. could not carry under the above said conditions a “net” weight of 4 tons at least, I would whether a higher power motor can be fitted to the same model “K” without however increasing much the weight of the tractor, owing, as stated before, to the little security afforded by the bridges on the bad roads.
