The Light That Leads Me into Holiness
You walk beside me now
 not behind, not above
a quiet flame at my shoulder,
teaching my steps how to slow.
You speak to us;

“First saints then missionaries”!
So my heart learns to kneel
before it learns to go.

You do not push me forward;

you root me deeper.
You steady my breath,
turn noise into prayer,
motion into meaning.

You speak to us;

“Take the first step courageously”!

In my weakness you don’t turn away.
You place my poverty
into God’s hands,
and it becomes light.

You lead me to the broken Bread,
where striving falls silent,
where love learns the shape
of surrender.

You speak to us;

“Trust in God”!

You point to Mary
her yes still unfolding
and I follow without fear,
even when the way is hidden

You guide me not by brilliance,

but by faithfulness.
A lamp that stays lit.
A path that opens.
And in your light,
holiness is no longer distant

It is the step I take
now.

St. Joseph Allamano,
intercede for us!
